Young Optometrists cordially invites you to join us on Saturday 8th of November for a Therapeutic Study Session designed especially for fifth-year UNSW optometry students in preparation for their upcoming oral therapeutics examinations.
This event is not associated with the UNSW course, but is instead organised by YO as an opportunity for final year students to practise and refine their therapeutic case discussion skills.
During the session, students will engage in case discussions within small groups, each facilitated by a therapeutically endorsed optometrist. The aim is for students to become more comfortable discussing their clinical reasoning and management aloud, reflecting the style of an oral examination, and to build confidence in their therapeutic decision-making.
Event Structure
The event will involve 30 minute case discussions and rotations in smaller groups, with a break for lunch.
9:20AM - 9:30AM - Introduction and allocation of groups
9:30AM - 12:00PM - Optometrists and students to discuss 5 cases (30 mins per rotation)
12:00PM - 12:35PM - Lunch (provided)
12:35PM - 2:05PM - Optometrists and students to discuss 3 cases (30 mins per rotation)
2:05PM - 2:20PM - Group feedback and debrief
