YO Webinar - In Contact: Modern Myopia Management
Join us for an engaging and practical webinar exploring contemporary contact lens approaches to myopia management.
Dr Adam Samuels will present on ActivControl® Technology and MyDay® MiSight® 1 day, focusing on the evidence behind contemporary myopia management approaches, identifying children at risk of myopic progression, and practical considerations when initiating treatment. The session will provide clinicians with practical strategies for prescribing and managing MyDay® MiSight® 1 day, with a focus on optimising patient selection, treatment implementation and successful clinical outcomes.
Sheila Lam will provide an introduction to orthokeratology (Ortho-K), covering the fundamental principles and mechanisms of Ortho-K and its role in myopia management. The session will explore appropriate patient selection, basic fitting and assessment principles, follow-up considerations, common fitting challenges and practical troubleshooting strategies. Clinicians will gain practical guidance on incorporating Ortho-K and other contact lens-based myopia management approaches into everyday clinical practice.
This interactive session will provide evidence-informed, clinically relevant approaches to contact lens-based myopia management, with a focus on translating current evidence into practical strategies for patient selection, prescribing, fitting, follow-up and ongoing management.

- Apply practical strategies when prescribing and managing MyDay® MiSight® 1 day to support successful patient outcomes.

Dr Adam Samuels is a therapeutically qualified optometrist with experience across clinical practice, academia and the contact lens industry. He spent a decade as an optometry practice owner and recently completed a PhD at UNSW investigating contact lens compliance and behaviour change.
He has a particular interest in translating scientific evidence into practical clinical education and currently works as a Professional Affairs Manager at CooperVision ANZ, where he contributes to professional education and the clinical application of contact lens technologies.
Orthokeratology: Practical Approaches to Myopia Management (Sheila Lam)
Principles and mechanisms of orthokeratology, patient selection, fitting and assessment, follow-up, common fitting challenges, troubleshooting and practical integration into myopia management.
Learning Objectives
- Identify suitable candidates for Ortho-K, considering patient characteristics, ocular health, lifestyle and treatment goals.
- Explain the basic principles and mechanisms of orthokeratology (Ortho-K) and its role in myopia management.
- Describe the basic Ortho-K fitting, assessment and follow-up process, including key clinical considerations.
- Recognise common Ortho-K fitting issues and apply basic troubleshooting approaches to optimise lens fit and patient outcomes.
- Apply practical strategies for incorporating contact lens-based myopia management, including soft myopia-control lenses and Ortho-K, into everyday clinical practice.

Sheila Lam graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2020 with a Master of Clinical Optometry and a Bachelor of Vision Science. She is the principal and co-founder of Eye Definition Optometrists, an independent full-scope practice in Sydney with a focus on myopia management and specialty contact lenses, particularly orthokeratology.
She currently serves as Chairperson of Young Optometrists and is a committee member of CCLSA NSW. She is also a Clinical Excellence and Education Consultant at Menicon Australia and holds a Diploma in Business Administration. Her clinical and professional interests include myopia management, specialty contact lenses and translating contemporary clinical approaches into practical patient care.
